In a perfect world, every baby would latch immediately after delivery and feed happily ever after. The reality is most dyads need a little help to get feeding off to a good start. As allied health professionals, we know that there are many reasons babies struggle to latch and feed well. Some dyads need significant assistance and comprehensive, strategic support in order to feed successfully.
Beyond the Basics of Latch explores how allied health professionals can best offer support and care strategies for challenging cases. This module is designed to help providers implement critical thinking when addressing multi-faceted concerns, including structural issues, physical discomfort, respiratory concerns, medical issues, digestive issues, feeding tool implementation and more. Through an in-depth examination of four complex case studies, participants will study the application of evidence-based assessment techniques and care plan strategies in difficult feeding situations.
